Although, I have most recently returned to UNC I'm not new to the campus as I have graduated with both my B.A. in Sociology with an Emphasis in Criminal Justice and my M.A. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with an emphasis in Higher Education from this excellent institution.
We have a dedicated team of professional and student staff throughout our Housing & Residential Education Department and I'm confident your experience will be a positive one. Please do not hesitate to let us know those things we are doing well and how we can improve.

I am originally from a town in Iowa called Spirit Lake but have called Colorado home for the past 4 years. I received my B.F.A in 2006 from Minnesota State University, Mankato in Ceramics and my M.A. in Leadership in Student Affairs from the University of St. Thomas in 2009.
I started my career working with college students as an Assistant Residential Coordinator on a study abroad program in Alnwick, England. When I returned I served as a Hall Director at Macalester College (3 years), the University of Denver (1 Year), and Colorado State University (2 years). After that I took a position as an Academic Support Coordinator, also at Colorado State University, prior to joining UNC in August of 2014.
Housing and Residential Education is where I have found the most meaning in the work that I do with students. I have a passion for learning and for the college experience. My current position is a perfect combination of these and allows me the opportunity to promote the connections between learning inside and outside of the classroom. I work closely with our Residential Learning Communities and also have the privilege of working with our Faculty in Residence program.
I am originally from Chicago, Illinois but have had the pleasure of living in a variety of places before coming to UNC. I received my B.A. in 2006 from Carthage College with a double major in English and Theatre and a minor in Spanish and my M.A. at Michigan State University in Student Affairs Administration with a concentration in Leadership Development. After MSU, I worked in Residence Life at Loyola Marymount University as a Hall Director (3.5 years), sailed as a Hall Director on Semester at Sea (Spring 2012) and as an Area Coordinator at the University of Wyoming (1.5 years).
I have a passion for working with students and therefore am thrilled to be serving as the Assistant Director for Apartment Life and Operations here at UNC! Within this role I will be overseeing daily operations and management of University and Arlington Park Apartments, working with conference services with our summer conference program, coordinating operation protocols and hiring our wonderful student staff members who work within the department. Students, if you are looking for a job, contact me!
I’m originally from the Pacific Northwest and a beautiful small town called Joseph, Oregon. I got involved in undergraduate at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington as a Resident Advisor and member of the campus program council. That involvement led me to my career path and Bowling Green State University in Ohio where I studied College Student Personnel. I missed the mountains of the West and when I graduated with my Master’s degree I moved to amazing Colorado!
Currently, I am lucky enough to work with wonderful UNC leaders. I serve as the advisor to the Residence Hall Association, the student government for residence hall students. If you are looking to get involved, check out RHA or your own hall council. I also get to work with a special group of leaders called the Diversity Mentors, who support and educate their peers on concepts of inclusion, social justice, and diversity.
UNC Bears get involved! What will your paw print say about you?
My name is Val Nielsen. I am the Assignments Coordinator. I have worked at UNC over 30 years and I am also a Greeley native. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.

I am originally from Madison, Wisconsin (Go Packers!) and came to call Greeley home via Los Angeles, Denver, Boulder and Louisville. Greeley was going to be a 3-year stop but I met my husband, who is from Greeley, and have fallen in love with it here! I previously worked for the Greeley Mall Management Office, the Greeley Tribune and now UNC. I started with UNC 4 ½ years ago with the Alumni Association and recently moved to Housing and Residential Education. It was the right move…a great team, positive working environment and student interaction.
My husband and I live in west Greeley with our dog Bogart. We love to travel, go hiking, take long rides in the convertible on Sunday afternoons, try new restaurants and relax in the backyard.
If I can be of assistance, call me!

Greetings! I am very excited to join the Housing & Residential Education team as the Lawrenson Hall Director this year! After volunteering for a year, I began the College Student Personnel Master’s program at Bowling Green State University, and completed my degree in May 2013.
My favorite thing about UNC and Greeley so far is the capacity for kindness that has been shown already. There truly is a culture of care at UNC, where students, faculty, and staff are committed to respecting others, advocating for social justice, and building healthy communities.
When I’m not at work, you will probably find me thrift shopping, seeing a movie, camping, cooking and baking, or playing disc golf. Additionally, I’m a big sports fan (Go Twins!), and can always be coaxed into a pickup game of just about anything.
I look forward to my time here at UNC, and if you ever want to chat, just stop by Lawrenson Hall!

Hello! My name is Morgan Bradford, and I am the Hall Director for the Turner Hall community! I am originally from Missouri, where I grew up in a fun-loving family of six. Our home was constantly filled with music whether we were listening to something on the record player or breaking out into song together, each finding our own harmony.
A little insight into my educational background: I received a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training at Graceland University. I found my passion for residence life there, and I attribute much of who I am as a person to my time at Graceland. In July 2012, I moved to Lubbock, TX where I obtained a Master’s degree from Texas Tech University in Higher Education Administration. As a student, both undergraduate and graduate, I was encouraged to pursue any passion that I desired. There is nothing like having the support from those who believe in you, and that is what I want to do for my students.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with people whether that is playing board games, sports, or watching movies. One of my favorite quotes is “I long to accomplish a great and noble task but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble” (Helen Keller).

I am so excited to be play a role in supporting students at UNC. Originally from the Mid-West, I came to UNC to complete my Doctorate in Counseling Psychology. Throughout my time here I have been a part of the campus community in a number of different roles and currently enjoy part of my time with HRE as the Counselor-In-Residence and the remainder of my time as a Licensed Staff Psychologist at the UNC Counseling Center. I have worked at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, University of Washington, and University of Colorado-Boulder. Although I’ve enjoyed my other campus experiences, UNC has always drawn me back and I’m so grateful to be able to call it home.
In my role with HRE I provide training and professional development opportunities for professional and student staff, as well as providing consultation regarding concerning student issues within the residence halls. I find my work to be incredibly rewarding and feel so privileged to have the opportunity to interact with such a wonderful student body. I also love the Greeley community, the nearby mountains, and the numerous opportunities for growth, adventure and fun that Colorado provides.
Proud to be a Bear!
Hello! My name is Jamie Huddleston and I am the Graduate Assistant for Social Justice. I am eager to be working within Housing and Residential Education with the Diversity Mentors Program. I’m also so excited to have entered into the field of higher education with my graduate studies in Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership.
I was born a southern girl from Texas, but after living most of my life in Colorado, I have embraced Colorado as my home. I grew up in the suburbs of Denver, and completed my undergraduate degree of Communication Studies at Colorado State University. From there, I taught high school English in Keenesburg, Colorado, before coming here to the University of Northern Colorado to pursue this new season of life.
Many of my passions focus on the capacity to help and serve others. I desire to support students in their life endeavors by helping them pursue their own dreams and ambitions. It is my hope to create an environment where students have the ability to discover their identity and find the resources and means to thrive in that liberty.
Outside of my work with students I enjoy running, coffee shop meandering, and book nerding (English teachers can make up words). I also enjoying meeting and hanging out with new people!

After working for a year, I decided I loved UNC too much and came back to get my Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership. I am set to graduate in Fall 2015.
My favorite thing about UNC is the staff. From the professors to the student affairs staff, everyone is extremely supportive and they all love to help students find their niche here. Everyone here goes above and beyond their job titles and work hard to create a welcoming and dynamic environment at UNC that focuses on student growth and leadership.
When I’m not going to class or in my office, you can usually see me working out at the gym or running around Greeley. I love exercising and exploring UNC, but towards the end of the semester, you will usually see me studying in Skinner Music Library, where they have the most comfortable chairs known to man.
I look forward to working and learning at UNC! Please stop by my office in Lujan Hall if you ever have questions.

This is a great place to work due to the outstanding students that we recruit and house on our campus in addition to the terrific personnel that work on our campus and support every aspect of a student’s success and development. The people are the reason that I have stayed at UNC for all these years and I am confident that they will impress you too! As a department, we strive for facility excellence and desire to see students experience personal growth and development. I would welcome your calls or e-mail if there is any way that we can assist in providing the excellence to which we aspire.
