Michael Klitzke

I am originally from a town in Iowa called Spirit Lake but have called Colorado home for the past 4 years. I received my B.F.A in 2006 from Minnesota State University, Mankato in Ceramics and my M.A. in Leadership in Student Affairs from the University of St. Thomas in 2009.

I started my career working with college students as an Assistant Residential Coordinator on a study abroad program in Alnwick, England. When I returned I served as a Hall Director at Macalester College (3 years), the University of Denver (1 Year), and Colorado State University (2 years). After that I took a position as an Academic Support Coordinator, also at Colorado State University, prior to joining UNC in August of 2014.

Housing and Residential Education is where I have found the most meaning in the work that I do with students. I have a passion for learning and for the college experience. My current position is a perfect combination of these and allows me the opportunity to promote the connections between learning inside and outside of the classroom.  I work closely with our Residential Learning Communities and also have the privilege of working with our Faculty in Residence program.

Assistant Director of Student Engagement - Christina Schwiderski - (970) 351-2850 - christina.schwiderski@unco.edu

Christina Schwiderski

I’m originally from the Pacific Northwest and a beautiful small town called Joseph, Oregon. I got involved in undergraduate at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington as a Resident Advisor and member of the campus program council. That involvement led me to my career path and Bowling Green State University in Ohio where I studied College Student Personnel. I missed the mountains of the West and when I graduated with my Master’s degree I moved to amazing Colorado!

Currently, I am lucky enough to work with wonderful UNC leaders. I serve as the advisor to the Residence Hall Association, the student government for residence hall students. If you are looking to get involved, check out RHA or your own hall council. I also get to work with a special group of leaders called the Diversity Mentors, who support and educate their peers on concepts of inclusion, social justice, and diversity.

UNC Bears get involved! What will your paw print say about you?

Meg Murphy

I am originally from Madison, Wisconsin (Go Packers!) and came to call Greeley home via Los Angeles, Denver, Boulder and Louisville.  Greeley was going to be a 3-year stop but I met my husband, who is from Greeley, and have fallen in love with it here!  I previously worked for the Greeley Mall Management Office, the Greeley Tribune and now UNC.  I started with UNC 4 ½ years ago with the Alumni Association and recently moved to Housing and Residential Education.  It was the right move…a great team, positive working environment and student interaction.

My husband and I live in west Greeley with our dog Bogart.  We love to travel, go hiking, take long rides in the convertible on Sunday afternoons, try new restaurants and relax in the backyard.

If I can be of assistance, call me!

Lawrenson Hall Director - Corey Friend - (970) 351-2799 - corey.friend@unco.edu

Corey Friend

Greetings! I am very excited to join the Housing & Residential Education team as the Lawrenson Hall Director this year! I grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and completed my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Saint John’s University in 2010. After volunteering for a year, I began the College Student Personnel Master’s program at Bowling Green State University, and completed my degree in May 2013.

My favorite thing about UNC and Greeley so far is the capacity for kindness that has been shown already. There truly is a culture of care at UNC, where students, faculty, and staff are committed to respecting others, advocating for social justice, and building healthy communities.

When I’m not at work, you will probably find me thrift shopping, seeing a movie, camping, cooking and baking, or playing disc golf. Additionally, I’m a big sports fan (Go Twins!), and can always be coaxed into a pickup game of just about anything.

I look forward to my time here at UNC, and if you ever want to chat, just stop by Lawrenson Hall!

Turner Hall Director - Morgan Bradford - (970) 351-2965 - morgan.bradford@unco.edu

Hello! My name is Morgan Bradford, and I am the Hall Director for the Turner Hall community! I am originally from Missouri, where I grew up in a fun-loving family of six.  Our home was constantly filled with music whether we were listening to something on the record player or breaking out into song together, each finding our own harmony.

A little insight into my educational background: I received a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training at Graceland University.  I found my passion for residence life there, and I attribute much of who I am as a person to my time at Graceland.  In July 2012, I moved to Lubbock, TX where I obtained a Master’s degree from Texas Tech University in Higher Education Administration.  As a student, both undergraduate and graduate, I was encouraged to pursue any passion that I desired.  There is nothing like having the support from those who believe in you, and that is what I want to do for my students.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with people whether that is playing board games, sports, or watching movies.  One of my favorite quotes is “I long to accomplish a great and noble task but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble” (Helen Keller).

Housing Services

Director of Housing Services - Brad Shade - (970) 351-1984 - brad.shade@unco.edu

Brad

As a Colorado native, I am proud to say that I have worked in this department, in various capacities, for more than 20 years of my 27 years in Higher Education. As a UNC alum, I collected both my bachelors and masters degrees in Business Administration and Communications from this great institution.

I had the pleasure of starting as a student here, becoming a front desk clerk, night clerk, summer assistant, RA, Assistant Hall Director, Hall Director, Assistant Director and Associate Director. I now serve as the Director of Housing Services with new responsibilities in Enrollment Management and Student Access (EMSA) for master and strategic planning. I have had a hand in many new developments and initiatives over the years from designing our departmental structure, to developing our mission & vision and constructing or renovating more than $100M in upgrades to our facilities in the past decade. We have hosted local, regional and national conferences and have had an expanding role in serving the Greeley community.

This is a great place to work due to the outstanding students that we recruit and house on our campus in addition to the terrific personnel that work on our campus and support every aspect of a student’s success and development. The people are the reason that I have stayed at UNC for all these years and I am confident that they will impress you too! As a department, we strive for facility excellence and desire to see students experience personal growth and development. I would welcome your calls or e-mail if there is any way that we can assist in providing the excellence to which we aspire.

Personally, I am also the proud parent of two young men who keep my wife and I running from academic events, athletic practices, games and church activities. As a family, we enjoy traveling, camping, fishing and any sport ever played. Clearly, family is important to me and it is our desire to serve you as part of the UNC family. Once a Bear, always a Bear!
