natural health and sciences Residential Learning Community
This residential learning community is a living and learning community co-sponsored by the College of Natural and Health Sciences and
the Department of Housing & Residence Life. Students in this community take classes together, live in close proximity, and all have an interest in health sciences
or other natural sciences. If you are studying health sciences, natural sciences, math or are a pre-nursing major this is the community for you.
Students living in this community have the opportunity to:
- volunteer and talk with practicing nurses and doctors at local hospitals for students who are pre-nursing majors
- informally get to know some of the faculty within their majors
- study with other students in their classes
- mentor incoming first year students
The Natural Health and Sciences Residential (NH&S) Learning Community is located in Wilson Hall on the 2nd floor on Central Campus. This floor houses 84 students and will be staffed by a Resident Assistant who is an upperclass student. Living in the NH&S community provides students with academic resources as well, with the NH&S library located right on the floor. The library includes a 4’ tall skeleton, models of a skull, brain, and heart, a chemistry molecule set, posters of various body parts and functions, and over 100 books donated by faculty!
This community has a lot of fun learning, socializing, studying, and hanging out together! The Natural Health and Sciences community is comprised of both upperclassmen and first year students, and as the community continues to grow, more and more students want to return to it to continue their college experience as residents of the NH&S community. Opportunities for students living in this community include: enrichment and social activities focused on science careers as well as leadership development, and community service opportunities.
